VLADIVOSTOK, November 30, vladivostoktimes.com A super grandma was elected at the 10th City Contest “Super Grandma-2009.” This time the winners of previous contests appeared on stage of the Gagarin Recreation Center in Nakhodka on November 29. The organizers of the event decided to invite the grandmas who had won the contests earlier as guests of honor or participants. As RIA PrimaMedia was informed in the press service of the Nakhodka Urban District Administration, this unique for the Primorsky Territory contest was arranged 10 years ago with the assistance of Nakhodka Administration Culture Department. It aims at involving of the senior citizens into the creative work, increasing of the family traditions and upbringing of respect their elders among the youngsters. By tradition, “super grandmas” contest is held on the occasion of Mother’s Day. The grandmas who had been the winners of the previous contests were invited to compete with each other this year or just attend the event as the guests of honor. The participants should tell about themselves and grandchildren, act as a narrator of folk tales, sing a lullaby, and also display their artistic skills and talents in needlework and cooking. The winners were awarded with prizes of the town council and sympathy of the audience. “During all these years the contest have been popular among the senior citizens and proved that they are still young in spirit and green at heart, play sport, can be involved in the public movement and creative work,” Elena ANDRUSHCHENKO, the author of the contest project remarks.
