Exhibition "Through Meridians" to Open in Vladivostok

Exposition is dedicated to history of international film festival of Asian Pacific countries "Pacific Meridians"

VLADIVOSTOK, August 3, vladivostoktimes.com Exhibition “Through Meridian” dedicated to history of the international film festival “Pacific Meridian” is to open on August 9 in Vladivostok, the press-service of the Primorsky Territory Administration reports.

The film festival “Pacific Meridian” is one of the most important cultural events in Primorye. Its name is known not only in Russia, but also in the world. It has deserved respect among cinematographers of the Asian-Pacific region. World-famous directors, well-known Russian and foreign actors, venerable critics arrive in Vladivostok to the festival annually.

Exhibition “Through Meridian” is dedicated to six-year history of the festival. “We would like to create an exhibition project, capable to tell not only about festival history, but to reproduce atmosphere of the event, special sensible and sense atmosphere which this event takes place in, curator of the exhibition Andrei VASILENKO said. To determine deep interconnects of the festival and city.”

The exhibition will include materials of the archive of IFF “Pacific Meridian” – photos, protocols of jury, correspondence of participants and guests with direction of the festival, a tribune which opening and closing ceremonies were held from, a copy of the Governor’s prize “9288 km” created by sketches of an artist Ilona GANSOVSKA and made by Noda YUICHI in glass, first drawings of a festival logo and many other things. Viewers will have a chance to see many artifacts not presented before.

Exhibition “Through Meridian” dedicated to history of the international film festival of Asian Pacific countries “Pacific Meridian” is to open on August 9 at 4 p.m. in the museum named after V.K. Arsenyev (Vladivostok, Petra Velikogo Str., 6).

For reference: the Seventh international film festival of Asian Pacific countries “Pacific Meridian” is to be held in Vladivostok on September 19-25.

632 feature and short films have been shown in cinemas of Vladivostok for 6 years of holding “Pacific Meridian.”

33 outstanding directors, critics, film festival directors from 14 countries of the world worked as the jury of the festival.

755 people were participants and guests f the festival.

138 400 people visited festival film screening.

“Kinotur” in the framework of “Pacific Meridian” passed through 34 cities and districts of Primorye.
