Scientific and Expedition Vessel "Professor Khromov" Brings 40 Foreign Tourists to Kamchatka

VLADIVOSTOK, July 12, vladivostoktimes.com Scientific and expedition vessel "Professor Khromov," having already "got acquainted" with Kamchatka and Chukotka thanks to joint efforts of companies Heritage Expeditions and Pacific Travel, called at Sakhalin, Kuril Islands, coast of Kamchatka and Komandorskiye Islands. An official site of the Kamchatka Krai Government reports it with reference to administration of Kronotskiy State biosphere preserve. Traditional objects to visit on Komandorskiye Islands are places of living of marine mammals – rookeries and seasonal grounds of sea lines, fur seals, colonies of birds, a burial place of participants of the second Kamchatka expedition of Vitus BERING in the Komandor bay, and of course, a museum of regional studies in the village Nikolskoye. Visiting of places with special status of preservation – water areas of the federal state preserves (Kurilskiy, Kronotskiy and Komandorskiy) needs special attention. With this purpose the tour operator and administrations of preserves held an agreement campaign, held instructing on schedule of boats and the vessel near the preserved complexes, determined people responsible for control of visiting. In these conditions risk to commit a nature conservation offence and disquiet natural order of rookeries and colonies of birds is minimized. 40 tourists were aboard "Professor Khromov" are citizens of the Great Britain, Canada and Sweden. Lectures, presentations on history, economy, natural sights are held for tourists every day. Scientists and experts are invited to the vessel for that. The results on meeting birds and mammals are summed up every day in the evening in a special hall, with this purpose tourists are given special tables-journals. The data collected on species of birds, pinniped and cetaeceans are accessible for the preserve and can be included in an annul nature chronicle.
