VLADIVOSTOK, July 3, vladivostoktimes.com The Sakhalin Area Mission on Hokkaido gave prizes to the participants of the All-Japan Russian Language Contest. VIII All-Japan Russian Language Contest at Sapporo University was held with the assistance of the RF Consulate General in Sapporo, the Sakhalin Area Mission on Hokkaido, All-Japan Expert in Russian Language and Literature Association and “Hokkaido Sinbun” Newspaper; the Sakhalin Area Administration Department on Information Policy informs. About 60 contest participants made speeches, recited poetry of the famous Russian poets; they contended the first prize – tour to Moscow and in-depth training course in one of the Moscow Universities. People of different age groups and occupations – schoolchildren of 12 who are interested in the Russian poetry, students who are eager to get a job in Russia, and pensioners who study Russian to read the Russian classical literature in the original – took part in the contest. The first place was taken by a 4-year student of “Waseda,” the famous Tokyo University, Higaside TOMO. She has been learning Russian for 5 years and acting in the University theatre and true her artistry amazed everybody. There were a lot of interesting and topical performances at the contest. For instance, a second year student of the Sapporo University Tabata YUI who won the second prize raised a question on the milk over-production on Hokkaido. Besides the first prize the contest participants were awarded with the prizes of All-Japan Expert in Russian Language and Literature Association, “Hokkaido Sinbun” Newspaper and the RF Consulate General in Sapporo. By tradition, the Sakhalin Area Mission awarded over 10 prizes for “will to win.”The contest organizers pointed out that the level of attainment of the contest participants is improving. Besides the students the schoolchildren from the Aomori Prefecture participated in the contest annually. This year Alexander NOVGORODSKIY, the Russian Language teacher, presented his ten pupils and they achieved good results. In Japan the eight means further development and perfection.
